About The Project.
Dapstrem media play is a cross-platform app, running on both android and IOS, that provides short original videos, about 10-15 min, to the mobile users who love watching short videos in between their tight day-to-day schedules.
What's Dapstrem Media Play.
This is a downloadable app on either the App store or play store which plays short videos, both locally and internationally. It is made for entertainment enthusiasts with tight schedules.
Problem Statement.
• Repetitive content in so many platforms.
• Longer content, but with limited time to watch.
• Lack of support for the local content.
• Time-consuming while searching for uncategorized content
Possible Solutions.
We came up with the idea of developing a mobile app for people who have limited time to watch:-
Original Short Content.
The platform provides max 15min of original content.
Reviews & Ratings based Content.
This will help users easily land recommended content saving them time.

User Research.
We conducted both qualitative and quantitative user research to help us understand our target users, and their frustrations. It also helps us engage users in the entire design process.
Qualitative Research.
In this, I conducted a one-on-one interview with 8 users to understand user frustrations, pain and gain points while using online entertainment applications. I also observed their behavioral patterns,in-app navigation, their preferences, time spent on each platform, engagement & much more
Quantitative Research
In this, we took an online survey from over 80 users to observe and analyze any similarities in their answers. The results are visualized as shown below.

From our detailed user research; and affinity diagrams, we defined our target user group and created personas for each user type. It contains the user’s demographic, interests, personality, goals, and pain points.

User Flow.
User flow is the road map for the user to navigate from the entry point to the exit point in order to complete a task in the user interface. It defines all the necessary steps in the user journey in order to achieve a goal. (Image on Behance)

We made a visual representation of the user’s journey across all touch points of our application to understand where to improve user experience

Information Architecture.
Card sorting results were refined to fit the goals of the application. Some of the features were reorganized to make them easier to make.
Wireframes.
Before moving to digital wireframes, i sketched the basic idea for each screen according to the information gathered and analyzed.
Hi-Fi Wireframes.
This screen was made to have a rough idea of the visual presentation of the proposed app.
Mockups Design.
We made a visual representation of the user’s journey across all touch points of our application to understand where to improve user experience
Assets Library.
This is a small documentation containing all reusable components that were used in design of the app

Usability Testing.
Usability testing was conducted with 8 users. They were given a working prototype to complete a task and give their feedback:

Learnings from the design.
Working on this project, I came to understand beauty can never be a substitute for functionality. A good design has to meet both user and business needs while observing the allocated budget.
